Easter in Kabul

I went to the Chapel service which had a few more attendees than usual. The Chaplain gave a really good message about the the trial, crucifixtion, and resurrection through the eyes of a Roman centurion.

Cal's wife also sent us all an Easter goody bag.

Long Distance Communication

Well with everyone being so busy these days Facebook seems like the greatest thing on Earth. Next to texting that is. But when one of my children say they don't know how to respond to a hand written letter in a post on FB and just reply there, something is wrong. I guess schools are teaching kids how to properly manipulate the keys on their phones and computers. Don't get me wrong, they have to have computer skills today for school and especially work. However, I think it is equally important for them to know how to actually pick up pen and paper and write.

So, effective 1 May I will no longer be on FB. So I guess I'll lose contact with about 90% of my "friends." I'll try and do a better job keeping up this blog and make a habit of writing letters or sending postcards once a week. Skype, well email and let me know the day and time and I'll try. I'll still answer email, but maybe not right away.

Herat

Well, an overnight trip to Herat turned into 4 days. But we got a lot accomplished. Including eating real Italian pasta cooked by an Italian, pizza, pastries for breakfast, and a lot of espresso.

The Italians are in charge in RC W so that is why you see Luigi (L) and Aaron (R) standing inbetween Adam and myself. They were great hosts and fun to work with. Herat wasn't a bad place other than living conditions.

Where I go to Church

I go to the "Rally Point Chapel" for church service on Sunday mornings. The service lasts just over an hour with a lot of singing in the beginning. It's no Southern Baptist service, but the Chaplain does take his message straight out of the Bible. And he spent most of his time with Special Operations Forces so he's a "Jump'in Chaplain."
